'MVP in the first half of LG?' Yum-ryang and native ace also acknowledged 'Madang-soe' ending

Both the manager and the native ace pitchers shared the same view. He proved why Yoo Young-chan (27), the closing pitcher of the LG Twins, was the MVP of his team in the first half of this season.

LG defeated Kiwoom in the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League 3-2 in an away match held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on Sunday. Having recently escaped from two consecutive losses, LG is happily taking a break from the All-Star game.고소득알바

It was a difficult victory. LG had two runs first on consecutive sacrifice hits by Kim Hyun-soo and Austin Dean in the opportunity to make Hong Chang-ki's hit and Shin Min-jae's double in the top of the first inning. He scored again in the top of the fourth inning, but his lead was 3 to 1 until the seventh inning, which he cannot afford to lose.

The biggest crisis was in the bottom of the eighth inning. Lee Sang-young, a left-hander of the LG Twins, took the mound and grounded out Lee Ju-hyeong, the first batter, but allowed Ronnie Dawson to hit a pitch, and Kim Hye-sung to walk, causing trouble to the first and second bases. Given that the team is a batter's box centered on Kiwoom, which has been hitting hard lately, it was a crisis.

The LG Twins wasted no time and deployed Yoo Young-chan early. The opponent team was Song Sung-moon, who has a batting average of around .400 since June. Yoo Young-chan walked Song Sung-moon after a difficult game to load the bases. Then, he induced Choi Joo-hwan to ground ball, and second baseman Shin Min-jae threw himself out, but unfortunately, he failed to make a double play and allowed one run.

Yoo Young-chan, however, remained firm and grounded out to second for pinch hitter Bae Sang-kwon, with runners on the first and third bases with two outs, to end the inning. In the bottom of the ninth inning, he grounded out and caught outfield flies to tricky left-handed hitters Lee Yong-kyu and Kim Tae-jin, respectively. He handled the game with heavy fastballs and folk balls with speeds of around 150 kilometers per hour. Jang, who turned from a pitcher to a batter, secured strikeouts with a 136 kilometer slider, which helped smooth the game.

Save in the first ⅔ inning. Yoo Young-chan also made a five-out save in the game against NC Dinosaurs on June 30. He is in charge of more innings than an ordinary closing pitcher who takes charge of one inning.

Yoo Young-chan pitched 39 ⅔ innings in 37 games this year. Notably, he pitched 13 ⅓ innings in the last 10 games. He pitched more than one inning in five games.

When LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop asked about the players he picked before the game, he immediately picked Yoo Young-chan and Son Joo-young. This year, Yoo Young-chan was in charge of finishing the game after Ko Woo-seok, who moved to the U.S. after the last season. However, due to injuries and slumps among must-winners such as Jung Woo-young, Ham Deok-ju and Park Myung-geun, Yoo had to play 11 games over one inning.

Lim Chan-kyu, who became the winning pitcher by pitching six innings of one run, also praised Yoo Young-chan. "Not only starting pitchers such as Choi Won-tae but also bullpen pitchers such as Yoo Young-chan and Son Joo-young were under heavy burden. I am so grateful," Lim said. Lim Chan-kyu had 14 wins (three losses) last year, ranking third overall in multiple wins and No. 1 in Korean history.

In response, Yoo Young-chan said, "As I get into an important situation, I'm only playing with the idea of protecting the team's victory rather than the eighth inning." As for the first half, he said, "I'm satisfied with giving fewer walks than last year," adding, "What's unfortunate is that I often let the runner (home) when I took the mound with a runner in the eighth inning."

In the first half, Yoo Young-chan posted an outstanding performance of 5 wins, 3 losses, 18 saves, and an ERA of 1.82. Thanks to his stellar performance, Yoo is set to play his first All-Star game. "I'm looking forward to it so much and I hope our fans enjoy the All-Star game together," Yoo said.

Thanks to Yoo Young-chan's dedication, LG finished the first half of the year with 46 wins, 38 losses and two draws. "As Park Myung-geun, Ham Deok-ju and Lim Joon-hyung return in the second half of the year, and the bullpen will be strengthened, I will try to win first place," Yeom said.
